What We Do
The Professional Development Unit (PDU) offers a range of professional development courses and services available to all UWS staff.
PDU provides professional development, training and support for:
- organisational development activities including planning and change management, quality management and performance management processes
- building organisational knowledge through offering seminars on current higher education issues
- enhancing management and leadership capabilities, individual capabilities and team development and performance by offering learning and development courses and programs.
PDU also:
- coordinates training provided by various UWS units
- provides support to colleges, divisions, schools and units in their planning, quality management and change processes
- coordinates professional network forums for various staff groups
- reports on organisation wide staff development and training activities
- provides advice and support in the development and implementation of strategies and policies relating to organisational and staff development initiatives.
PDU provides individual and group consultation in relation to:
- training needs analysis and skills audit and development
- planning and review processes
- development of individual and group learning and development plans
- team building and development
- conflict resolution and mediation
- coaching managers in effective leadership, management and work practices
- enhancing personal effectiveness and performance
- career planning and development.
