Providers seeking to establish a partnership
To ensure the high standard of partnerships between private VET colleges and UWS we have designed an application package for providers seeking a formal relationship with UWS. This package includes guidelines for completing the two part VET/UWS Partnership application.
The guidelines provide step by step instructions on how to complete the Request for Partnership application and how providers are required to address the necessary criteria. It also explains the approval process and associated timeframes.
The Request for Partnership application is designed to gather evidence of quality in all aspects of teaching, assessment and resources used in the delivery of VET courses. UWS has a standard approval process for assessing partnership and pathways applications.

In addition to the package, UWS has developed a VET framework to manage all aspects of VET relationships to enable the best possible process and transition.
- The Frequently Asked Questions page (opens in a new window) details additional information providers need to know about seeking a formal relationship with the University of Western Sydney including the approval process and associated timeframes
- To assist providers, UWS has a VET Relationships Manager (Janelle Davis), who looks after all aspects of VET to UWS collaborations. Providers can contact Janelle at j.davis@uws.edu.au.
- The entire VET pathways process is governed by an Articulation Pathways Policy (opens in a new window) to ensure consistency and transparency of articulation and credit transfer management.
- UWS has a specially designed VET/UWS Pathways webpage (opens in a new window) for all potential and current UWS and VET students as well as providers and University staff. This site provides information on all approved pathways and directs students on how to apply for credit.
- UWS also offers access to an online pathways credit processing system which allows all eligible pathways students to confirm their credit online using the Pathways Credit e-form. This allows them to have their credit processed in a matter of minutes without the need to provide transcripts or lodge hard copy forms. Eligible VET students are notified in the admission process if they are pathways students and are directed to the online system.
- To assist their transition to University, VET students have access to all support units and programs available at UWS. These are detailed on the Getting help webpage (opens in a new window).
In addition to these initiatives, UWS is currently researching the transition of VET students making the shift to University. This Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) funded project is exploring the student experience for VET students in a bid to identify areas for improvement and assist students by developing strategies for supporting them during their commencement year.
