School of Computing and Mathematics

Welcome

Message from the Head of School

Welcome to the School of Computing and Mathematics, part of the College of Health and Science at the University of Western Sydney.

Computing, mathematical and statistical skills impact on every part of our lives. Much of our culture and technology now rests on the intelligent use of computing and mathematics, and our social and business analysis is also heavily statistical. Graduates with strong skills in these areas are valued additions to any workforce.

Our computing and mathematics degrees position our graduates at the forefront of technology, opening the door to a wide variety of careers including analyst programming, computer forensics, database design and development, financial mathematics, IT support, market research, medical informatics, network management, software engineering, statistics, systems programming, systems administration and web development.

The dedicated staff of the school have substantial and wide-ranging experience in both industry and research, and we currently have over 1500 students enrolled in our programs.

We offer:

  • degree programs in computing, computer sciences, information technology, IT support, mathematical finance and statistics
  • opportunities for students to undertake external work experience or industrial projects
  • the opportunity to graduate with an accredited computing degree
  • a bridging course for students whose skill levels in mathematics is insufficient to begin University study, through the Learning Skills Unit.

On behalf of my colleagues in the school, I invite you to contact us if you have any questions about the school, the programs we offer, our consulting services or our other activities.

Professor Simeon Simoff
