Participants of the FEEDING SYDNEY Conference, come from a wide range of groups all interested in future supplies of good food. Conference participants have issued the Hawkesbury Communique (PDF, 65kb) to ensure key matters discussed are taken forward.
The Conference focussed on the issues associated with feeding a growing world population at a time when available agricultural land and water supplies are declining and there is increasing pressure regarding sustainability of farming systems. Sydney and its food supply will be used as an example of the issues and challenges facing major population hubs. Alternative food supply options will be explored together with issues of food security. A growers and suppliers panel discussion will provide a real world insight into the issues associated with the supply side of the equation.
