Helen Fleming is the University Secretary and General Counsel.

Tony Martin (opens in a new window)

Tony Martin is the University's Senior Property Lawyer having joined the University in 2006.

Tony has extensive experience in property related matters and prior to joining the University worked for many years in private practice as well as a period as a property lawyer for Baulkham Hills Shire Council.

Tony works closely with the University's capital works and development units and provides advice in relation to a wide range of issues arising from the University's extensive land holdings including land sales and acquisitions, development strategies, leasing, licensing and planning matters.   

Peter Malecki (opens in a new window)

Peter Malecki is a Senior Commercial Lawyer.

Prior to joining the University, Peter worked for a number of international companies such as, the Fiat Group and BHP. Peter Malecki has extensive experience both in industry and in the public sector.

Natasha Maiolo (opens in a new window)

Natasha Maiolo is the University's Senior Employment Lawyer.

Natasha has more than 13 years' experience in employment and industrial law.  Natasha joined the University of Western Sydney in 2006, prior to which she worked in private practice.  She advises the University on a broad range of employment and industrial matters, including enterprise bargaining, interpretation of enterprise agreements and employment contracts, statutory obligations, organisational change, disciplinary proceedings and disputes, and also represents the University in external tribunals such as the Fair Work Commission.

Natasha holds a Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours and a Graduate Certificate in Legal Practice from the University of Technology, Sydney, is admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of NSW, and is entered on the High Court Register of Practitioners.

Fiona Montebello (opens in a new window) - On Leave

Fiona Montebello is a Property and Commercial Lawyer.

Prior to joining the University, Fiona was in private practice and most recently specialised within the area of property law. Fiona works with Tony Martin and Peter Malecki and provides advice in relation to a variety of commercial and property related matters.

Hannah McLean (opens in a new window)

Hannah McLean is the University's Litigation and Disputes Lawyer.

Hannah advises on all matters of dispute involving the University and also advises on matters of risk. Hannah also assists in matters of policy and procedure and sits on several committees, including the Cloud Adoption Working Group.  Hannah has a broad litigation background following two years as a Judge's Associate and has practised in professional indemnity insurance, transport law and family and children's law.  Hannah was the 2015 recipient of the Society of University Lawyers' scholarship, enabling her to travel to the United States to meet with other universities and discuss legal issues arising out of student discipline.

Peter Helene (opens in a new window)

Peter Helene is a Senior Lawyer, based in Capital Works and Facilities.

Prior to joining the University, Peter was a general practitioner and partner in a law practice. He has extensive commercial experience having been in-house counsel for a plastics company, stock broking firm and wine company. Peter joined the University in April 2008 and provides the University with advice relating to tendering and construction matters.

Peter Guilfoyle (opens in a new window)

Peter Guilfoyle is the Procurement Tendering and Legal Officer, based in Capital Work and Facilities.

Prior to joining the University, Peter held a senior position at NSW Government Procurement. Peter has also worked for Barclays Bank and Citibank.

Theresa Kelly (opens in a new window)

Theresa Kelly is a Commercial Lawyer.

Theresa advises on a broad range of commercial law matters, including contracts and disputes. Theresa joined UWS from Macquarie University in July 2014. Previously, she worked as an in-house lawyer in the energy procurement and construction (EPC) sector at Siemens and Dalkia Technical Services, and in the IT sector at Insight Enterprises. Theresa has substantial practice experience in commercial litigation gained at major law firms in the UK. She has also worked as a Knowledge Management Lawyer in major Sydney law firms. Theresa is admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales as well as in New South Wales.

Allison D'Cruz (opens in a new window)

Allison D'Cruz is the Executive Officer in the Office of General Counsel.

Prior to joining the University, Allison was in private practice and specialised in the area of construction law. Allison also has previous experience working in other legal and administration roles in both the public and private sectors.
