How to Apply for Research Degrees at UWS

All applicants must submit a research proposal with their application, unless they are applying for a predefined scholarship project (eg ARC funded scholarship). The proposal should be discussed with an academic advisor. Please take careful note of the closing dates and documentation requirements. For assistance, please contact Jann Fathers.

Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents and New Zealand Citizens

Applications are invited for the 2009 round of government funded Research Training Scheme (RTS) places and scholarships. RTS places are available to candidates seeking either full-time or part-time enrolment in a research higher degree at UWS, while scholarships are normally only available for full-time study.

UWS uses a Ranking Metric to determine the allocation of RTS places. You are advised to discuss the Ranking Metric with an academic advisor prior to submitting your application.

Applications close 31 October 2008.

International candidates

International candidates may apply for admission at any time but enrolment for a session must commence before the corresponding census day of 31 March or 31 August.

Endeavour International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (EIPRS) applicants must apply before 31 October in the year prior to commencement. For further information about these awards, please see Scholarships at UWS.

Deferring your offer

Deferment of RTS places is not permitted. All RTS offers must be taken up before the next census date. Local fee paying research candidates may apply for deferment by making a request to: sa-research@uws.edu.au

International offers may be deferred for a maximum 12 months.
